Mitos: Es krim biang keladi kegemukan. 
Fakta: Kegemukan disebabkan oleh energi dan lemak yang berlebihan serta kurang aktivitas fisik karena kebiasaan makan yang kurang baik dan faktor keturunan. Sementara itu, kontribusi energi dan lemak dalam es krim per takaran saji sangat kecil, yaitu sekitar 10 persen dari total kebutuhan energi per hari dan 15 persen dari total kebutuhan lemak per hari. 

Mitos: Es krim menyebabkan batuk pilek. 
Fakta: Es krim cepat meleleh saat masuk ke dalam rongga mulut karena pengaruh suhu tubuh, jadi saat es krim masuk ke kerongkongan, suhunya sudah tidak sedingin air es. Penyebab batuk pilek adalah terutama virus dan alergen pada anak-anak yang mempunyai sifat alergi bawaan. 

Mitos: Es krim menyebabkan gigi berlubang. 
Fakta: Gigi berlubang disebabkan fermentasi sisa karbohidrat dan gula yang tertinggal pada gigi. Dianjurkan untuk minum air putih, berkumur, atau menggosok gigi setelah mengonsumsi makanan manis seperti es krim. 

Mitos: Memakan es krim terlalu cepat membuat sakit kepala. 
Fakta: Ada teori yang mengatakan bahwa sakit kepala karena es krim (atau yang lebih umum disebut brain freeze) disebabkan karena pendinginan yang cepat pada sinus frontalis, yang memicu saraf nyeri lokal. Teori yang lain mengatakan, penyebabnya adalah penyempitan pembuluh darah di langit-langit dan belakang mulut menyebabkan aktifnya saraf nyeri dan rasa nyeri menyebar ke kepala. Di bagian belakang mulut terdapat pusat saraf yang disebut sphenopalatine ganglion, dan sangat mungkin inilah penyebab dari brain freeze.
